I moved to Miami for work about three years ago and one of the first things I did was start living a naturally healthy lifestyle. It wasn’t so much that I became fanatical about what I ate and drank (although I did start paying closer attention to that) but rather with such beautiful weather all the time, I tried to engage in outdoor activities whenever I could. I also made a conscious effort to take the stairs, walk a few blocks…little things like that.
It took a few weeks to get used to, but then it started to feel like the most natural thing in the world. In fact, it started to feel so great I found myself upset when it wasn’t anymore. I felt like I could still lose some more weight, get in better shape, but I didn’t know how to do it on my own. I knew it was time to look at some Miami gyms and find a personal trainer.
Part of me felt funny doing it. Here I was in one of the most perfect cities to spend time outdoors, and I was going to pay good money to avoid it. I kept thinking that until I visited one gym that turned that on its ear. Not only did they have a large outdoor area where they taught boot camp fitness classes, the trainer I met with openly encouraged me to take NoDaysOFF, meaning on days I wasn’t scheduled for a class or a training session, I should still do the little things I had been doing. Thanks to him, now I’m back to feeling even better than ever.
